Night Classes

North Kerry College of Further Education are currently offering a variety of QQI (FETAC) Certified and Hobby Adult Education courses in the evening throughout the school calendar year. Courses run from the 1st of October on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings between 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm.

Modules to be completed by May 2019. Each module consists of 40 hours and class times are 6.30pm - 9.30pm and students must also be available on Saturday April 6th and 13th.

Knitting for Beginners

Course Details

It seems that knitting is becoming a trend. Students will learn how to read a pattern, cast stitches on, knit garter stitch, stocking stitch, increase and decrease, cast off stitches and sew and make up. Students will have a completed garment by the end of 6 week course. Please bring a set of 5 to 6 mm needles and a ball of Aran woolof choice.

Conversational Spanish 

Course Details

This class is for people with an interest in learning to pick up enough of the language to be able to cope with everyday travel situations such as introducing yourself, booking accommodation, ordering a meal and using public transport. The class may be divided into two levels of learners, depending on the ability of participants.

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the theory and practice underpinning the education and care of those who present with special educational needs to enable the learner to assist in the provision of this education and care.

Healthcare Component Module - Care of the Elderly

Course Details

Learners who successfully complete this module will understand the aging process and be able to meet the full range of needs of the older person,to enhance their quality of life, in a variety of care settings. It is intended that this module will prepare those that seek employment in nursing homes or as healthcare assistants working for public or private home-careproviders.

 

It may also be of benefit to those caring for a family member in the home. Follow on module Care Skills to be offered in Spring

Healthcare Component Module - Infection Prevention and Control

Course Details

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to prevent and control infection within the health services area. The learner will study the basic principles of infection and the application of standard precautions in relation to infection control, to include the significance of an Area of Infection Control, in providing a healthy environment for patients, staff and visitors.
