Work Experience Module
Learners in North Kerry College of Further Education are expected to get a work placement in an area that relates to their course.
The college does NOT arrange placements for learners - it is part of your course and learning that you arrange your own work placement.
This is a core module, which means that a learner will not be awarded their full QQI certificate unless they pass the Work Experience module. Doing a work placement is a core part of this module.
Each student needs to do work placement in order to fulfill this part of the course. The amount of hours required will be given to you by your work experience teacher.
Learners who are studying any of the healthcare courses (Nursing, Childcare, etc) need to be cleared for Garda Vetting before they will be taken on by most work places, as do learners who wish to work with minors in any capacity. This can apply to learners on a Sports course.
Your Work Experience teacher will give you a letter from North Kerry College's insurance company, which many companies need before they will accept a student on a work placement.
